After several useless attempts from Amazon, made a call to Struts depot. The rep was great and identified the products suitable to my needs. Delivery has come promptly, and the bed mechanism works again! Very happy.
This is done by filling a gas and oil inside a closed system of the struts, which allows smoother motion.
Gas struts that don’t usually work can be easily compressed and don’t retract to their original position or also can be the opposite situation and be stuck in the extended point. These issues can be caused by inferior quality of materials. They fail by either leaking gas or oil from the lack of the gasket where they compress. As they will fail and will not compress as intended when they were first fitted to the application as the struts are made from inferior quality of materials. This can be a costly mistake to purchase cheaper struts from less reputable brands.
We offer a wide range of gas struts online and in store, dispatched from the warehouse directly the same day to mainland United Kingdom. If you are located nearby come into the store and discover our vast inventory of struts. Varying from car gas struts (boot and bonnet), bed gas struts, boat gas struts, adjustable gas struts and custom made gas strut for various applications. We ensure the highest quality of materials for our struts, whether you need a like for like replacement or a custom fit gas strut, StrutsDepot makes it easy to find the right part.
How to Choose the Correct Gas Strut
When replacing struts that you currently have, you would need the original part number that can be found on the body of the gas struts. This can help us to locate the correct replacement for your application. The second option would be length of the struts from centre to centre of the end fitting as well as the force rating. Lastly, the type of ending you would need to fit your application would include the dimensions such as thread type, lengths and compatibility. With this information we can determine which gas strut that you will need.
How do I measure a gas strut for replacement?
Simply measure the length from the centre of the end fitting to the centre of the other end.
The most common mistake is measuring the entire length which will give you a slightly longer gas strut.
Understanding End Fittings: Ball Joints, Eyelets, Ball Sockets, Studs & More
• Ball Joints: there is a socket and where there is a ball stud inserted inside allowing movement around on that axis.
• Eyelets: They have a circular hole in the middle of end fitting allowing the user to connect the eyelet hole onto a bracket or bolts can be used through the hole.
• Ball sockets: They are designed to have movement from inserting onto an existing ball stud to allow rotation on the different axes.
• Clevis Forks: They are a U shape end fitting that has two holes on each side to allow a pin/bolt to slide through to securely hold together the application.
How to Choose the Correct Gas Strut for Your Vehicle
When choosing gas struts for your boot or bonnet, it is key that you replace them with direct specification as fitting wrong parts can cause issues that can come up later down the line. Ideally, to match your current gas struts, you will need to know the original part number which can be found on the body of gas struts.
OEM gas struts vs. aftermarket: What you need to know.
OEM stands for ‘original equipment manufacturer’ where the manufacturer provides the car gas struts that are specifically made for the vehicle and tested to fit. On the other hand, the aftermarket is designed with the manufacturing specification in mind and is the same but from a different company than the manufacturer.
We sell both OE and aftermarket gas struts, supplied by the most reliable brands. For your peace of mind, all our products are covered with a 3 years warranty.
Where to buy heavy duty slides?
StrutsDepot offers five types of telescopic drawer runners for side mounting. They have triple extension and are fully extendable, allowing you to reach all the contents inside your drawers. We have load ratings of 45 kg, 90 kg, 120 kg, and 250 kg, available in two variants: lock-in/lock-out or detent-in. These slides are constructed from thick, zinc plated steel to ensure a long life.
How do heavy duty slides work?
Heavy duty slides, which are also known as drawer runners, can handle heavier loads than regular runners. They are made with three separate runners: the outer frame, the middle and inner frame. Carbon steel ball bearings ensure smooth and efficient movement.
How to choose your heavy duty slide?
Choosing the right heavy duty slide runners is key for good performance and safety. You must not overload your runners. We suggest picking a slide that can handle more weight than what your drawer will hold when full. The 45kg, 90kg, and 120kg models work best for medium to heavy duty applications, and the 250kg locking slides are made for extra heavy duty jobs. To find the correct length for your runners, measure the entire drawer length. Include a clearance gap at the back of the drawer in your measurement. For the locking runners, a 35mm lever is positioned at the front of the drawer.
Our drawer runners:
1. 45kg Load – Detent-In – 400mm to 700mm
2. 90kg Load – Detent-In – 400mm to 700mm
3. 120kg Load – Detent-In – 400mm to 700mm
4. 120g Load – Locking (lock-in/lock-out) – 400mm to 700mm
5. 250kg Load – Locking (lock-in/lock-out) – 406mm to 1016mm
What are the signs it’s time to replace your drawer slides
1. Excessive noise or resistance when operating.
2. Difficulty when opening or closing even after cleaning the runners.
3. Damage, corrosion, broken ball bearings or bending.
