Rigid in Extension
These gas struts have a feature which allows them to lock the piston in its extended position thereby provided rigidity, however in regards to compression the strut will allows a few millimetres of movement. Once the force is released from the piston, the rod will return to the initial position from which it had started from. Unlike standard gas struts, these can be mounted in any positioned to accommodate for the application.
Rigid in Compression
These gas struts work in the completes opposite way to the ‘Rigid in Extension’ gas struts as they have a feature which allows them to provide rigidity in compression, however in regards to extension the strut will allows a few millimetres of movement. Once the force is released from the piston, the rod will return to the initial position from which it had started from. Unlike the ‘Rigid in Extension’ gas struts, these can’t be mounted in any position and need to be mounted with the rod side facing down.
Spring/Elastic Blocking
The ideal applications for this type of gas strut are those requiring comfort/movement when the strut is both in its compressed and extended position. When a force is applied to the strut in its compress or extended position, it will allow for a few millimetres of movement in either direction. Again, as with the other two struts, once the force is released from the piston, the rod will return to the initial position from which it had started from. These struts should be mounted with the rod end facing down.
– Please note that the gas struts are sold individually.
